Electric generation capital costs

Capital costs are the upfront costs necessary to construct and put a generation unit into service. These include engineering, procurement, and construction costs (called EPC) plus capitalized financing costs during the construction period. 


As of 2019, estimated median capital costs for newly constructed generation types were as follows:
