Gas composition

Natural gas composition varies by well, but most wells include methane, natural gas liquids, and various undesirable substances called impurities.

Prior to entering the gas transmission system, natural gas is processed in a processing facility. The processing facility separates the raw gas into methane, natural gas liquids, and impurities. The resulting useful products are pipeline-quality natural gas and natural gas liquids (NGLs).
